The 7th International Congress for Underwater Archaeology will be held in Helsinki, Finland, from 2nd to 5th June 2020. The theme of the congress is “Delivering the Deep” and is organised by the Faculty of Arts at the University of Helsinki, the Marine Archaeological Society, the Finnish Heritage Agency and the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies.
The first IKUWA congress was held in Germany in 1999 to promote the protection of underwater cultural heritage. The previous event, IKUWA 6, was held in Australia in 2016. IKUWA 6 attracted 250 participants from all over the world, making it a truly international event.
The call for papers is currently open until the 28th August 2019. The sessions and chairs are expected to be announced late 2019/early 2020. More details on the event will be added as soon as they are released publicly.
